LEED® GREEN ASSOCIATE
Amanda Ward is a Principal and Senior Architectural Technologist at Cooper Rankin Architecture. An Honours Graduate from Red River College, she has over 15 years of experience in the practice of architecture. Amanda’s passion for architecture is rooted in her desire to have a positive impact on her environment. Her primary roles include project management, construction document development and oversight, office standards and accounting. She believes that in such a growing and changing world, the way you approach the physical development of communities and neighbourhoods can make a major difference for all demographics. Amanda prides herself on her attention to client’s needs – she is a master of timelines and strives to ensure that anything requiring action on a project is dealt with quickly and effectively. Fascinated by the ability to design without disrupting the natural environment, her ultimate goal in her work is to fulfill the firm’s purpose of being service-oriented, while also designing for communities to address the needs of their residents, and integrate the natural environment while respecting its fragility.
HER FAVOURITE CITY
Although a small town girl at heart, Amanda fell in love with San Francisco on a recent visit there: “I could have easily spent weeks in the city itself and not run out of things to see and do”. She is fascinated by the variety of natural and built elements, as well as the city’s rich history.
MEMORABLE TOY AS A CHILD
Her favourite toy growing up was Lego (“or basically anything that I could use to build”). She was always building forts with branches in the bushes at her grandma’s farm. That or snow forts in the winter, blanket forts, pillow forts, etc… “you name it I built a fort with it.”
Her favourite building will always be Fallingwater designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; “it’s beautiful and so much careful thought was put into incorporating the environment around it”.
